It doesn’t take much time to tear an old house down. But it can take a long time to build a new home up. There’s a lot to consider in the home building process, from designing the initial floor plan to submitting your proposal to the Design Review Committee (DRC). That being said, you’ve chosen CNC Homes to build a custom home for a reason.
The more prepared you are for the process, the further ahead you can plan for the future. But remember, no build is the same. Nonetheless, we’ll guide you through our home building timeline so that you have a general idea of what to expect along the way.
Develop an Approved Home Plan: Approximately Three Months
We’re assuming you’re starting from scratch. But you may also have your own unique vision—which is a great place to start. You’ve already made a step in the right direction by choosing CNC. Now we get to turn your vision into a reality.
Since you haven’t signed a letter of intent yet, once we meet and sign the paperwork, we’ll draw up a design for your new home. How long it takes to design your floor plan depends on what you want. But this process can take anywhere from three to six months.
The next step is to apply for proper financing. This step can be done in a matter of weeks, sometimes even less. The approval process takes up to a month, but once it’s complete, we’re ready for the fun part—time to break ground and prep for construction of your new home.
Prepare Your Lot: Approximately One Month
Lot preparation must follow specific city guidelines. That means when we’re breaking things down and prepping for the build, we need to take good care of the area’s surrounding resources. The health of your home’s environment, neighborhood, and community is just as crucial as building you a beautiful house. After all, we wouldn’t want to ruin the land you live on as it’s an integral part of your new home.
How long this process takes depends on where we’re building, accessibility, and how much land we’re working on. You can expect lot preparations to take anywhere from a month or more.
Build You a Home: Approximately 12 Months
We’ll get through the construction bidding process in a matter of weeks and establish your final budget. This step requires a full set of engineered construction drawings approved by you, the homebuyer. Things can quickly change when developing your home, but we never move forward without your distinct approval.
Building timelines are flexible, and the process can take anywhere from 12 or more months. You’ve entrusted us with your custom home, and we make sure the job gets done the right way in the right amount of time. In the end, we want you to walk through your front door and truly feel at home.
When you build a custom home with CNC, we pride ourselves on not only delivering stellar custom homes that meet your expectations but also in how we handle the ride along the way.
